LifeCoaching Entrepreneurs - A Discussion with Freshteh Nassir of Life Perspective Coaching
July 29, 2008 :: Steve FisherFreshteh is a woman who has found her calling. After fourteen years of working in corporate America as a Relocation Counselor she decided to leave that behind and take a look at her life and create a job that she loved getting out of bed every morning to do. She has the heart of a teacher and the passion of an entrepreneur so she decided to become a life coach. In 2007 she became certified as a professional life coach and the company, “Life Perspective Coaching” was born.
I recently had a chance to catch up with Freshteh and talk about her company and her experiences as a life coach.
Steve: We know the basics of your background but what sparked your passion to become a life coach?
Freshteh: Actually, it was sort of an awakening…kind of an epiphany type of thing. I wanted to share what I knew, that made a positive difference in my life, with everyone else. And, really I did was to listen to my intuition and follow it.
Steve: For the uninitiated, could you explain what a professional coach does?
Freshteh: Coaching is a powerful process of communication and problem solving. The relationship between a coach and a client is co-creative. Coaching is all about looking at the reality of the situation, focusing on the client’s goal, choosing ways to move forward by enabling the client to discover their own solution and being committed to it. The focus is entirely on the client’s interest, challenges, and the goal. A Life Coach will encourage the client to expand beyond their limitations.
Steve: Why do you think coaching works for people?
Freshteh: Coaching works if the client is ready and willing to follow through after setting up a goal. Because of coach’s professional knowledge and expertise the client is more confident making better decisions and taking more actions toward their goal. Coaching works because sometimes we are just not able to come up with the answers to our problems on our own. Although, I believe that we all have the answers within us.
Steve: What is your approach and how do coaching sessions work?
Freshteh: My approach is to empower my clients to first think and see beyond the limitations they put on themselves. Coaching is done over the phone. This makes it easier for people who travel for business to call in from any part of the world. Most clients are coached 3 times a month for 60 minutes each.
Steve: Since you are a new entrepreneur, what do you find are your greatest lessons learned from starting your business?
Freshteh: Things take-time! On the days you think nothing is happening remind yourself that Rome was not build in one day. Be patient. As you go along setting up the business, write down the “to do list” every day and date each one. You can then go back to them and realize how much you have accomplished and how far you have come. And, never loose your sense of humor.
Steve: What is your philosophy on being an entrepreneur?
Freshteh: Have a passion for your business. If you are passionate about what you are doing and money is not a primary factor, you will enjoy every second of your job. Not only that, but your clients feel your energy and the genuine interest that you have in them.
Steve: Where do you envision the business five years from now?
Freshteh: As you may have guessed it I am very passionate about my message. That is to motivate and inspire people to see their true value and realize their hidden potentials. To reach out to a broader audience I will take my coaching business to the next level. That is to have many public speaking events, seminars and workshops done, and write books as well. In fact I am working on one right now.
Steve: Sometimes I like to close an interview with a “Do This List”. So for you, what are the top five things an owner/manager/executive can use a coach for?
Freshteh: Since mangers and executives are human too ☺ they have challenges and issues that are to be taken to a professional who can guide and assist them. A business owner or an executive can use a coach for various reasons such as:
1. To solve personal conflicts and issues
2. To achieve a goal they cannot get to on their own
3. To bring peace and harmony to their work environment and among their staff
4. To manage and have balance between work and personal life
5. To have someone to endorse their own solution (in a way)
